Checked the MODIS satellite fire perimeter imagery and luckily the fire’s downwind and southeast of TBG terrain. Keeping our fingers crossed. Then (if that wasn’t a big enough relief), got this via email:

“I anticipate the District Ranger will send out a formal acceptance of your proposal and application, probably in the middle of August. That being said, I cannot guarantee anything, until you have received your permit in hand. I do anticipate that will occur before winter.”
